Established in 1964, Dukes County Regional Emergency Communication Center (RECC) is a regional central dispatch for all of the towns located within Dukes County.

These towns include Aquinnah, Chilmark, Edgartown, Gosnold, Naushon, Oak Bluffs, Tisbury, and West Tisbury. RECC is an Enhanced 911 Center (PSAP) which provides service to 68 agencies. Dukes County Sheriff’s Public Safety Telecommunicators are the first-line public safety communications professionals who serve as first responders to every class of emergency for which public safety services are provided. Telecommunicators receive, process, transmit and/or dispatch emergency and non-emergency calls for public safety and other agencies via land line and wireless telephone, radio, pager and other communication devices.

As of March 14, 2019, all 911 wireless calls made in Dukes County come directly to the Dukes County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center, rather than being processed through the State Police.
